who designs cars for car companies? I am interested for I would like to know what job profession this is

Cars are designed in house with a few notable exceptions like the original Ford Cobra, and the much later GTO's that were marketed a few years ago that were an Australian design. Mechanical/electrical/aerodynamic engineers design cars. Each major company has a team of engineers working for them.

Mercury . How to Replace the Third Brake Light on a 1992 Honda Civic Hatchback

Third brake lights, also called high-mounted or center-mounted brake lights, became mandatory in all passenger vehicles sold after 1986. The 1992 Honda Civic hatchback has the third brake light, as do the sedan and coupe. The process of replacing the hatchback's third brake light is different than in the sedan or coupe, because of the rear hatch. Replace your third brake light as soon as possible if you discover it's not functioning. Don't use any bulb other than the one listed; it is the type recommended by Honda.
Difficulty:Moderately Easy
Instructions Things You'll Need
Gloves
Phillips-head screwdriver
Bulb 3497

Step by Step :
1
Open the rear hatch. Look on the inside-hatch cover to find the plastic panel that covers the third brake light. Pull this panel off with your hands.
2
Remove the two Phillips-head screws behind the panel. These screws secure the third brake light lens. Be careful to not let them fall between the hatch and the panel.
3
Carefully lower the rear hatch while supporting the third brake light from the outside. Pull the third brake light off. With the screws out, it comes off easily.
4
Gently twist the bulb socket on the rear of the lens counterclockwise. Pull the old bulb straight away from the bulb socket (don't twist it). Firmly insert the new bulb. Reinsert the socket into the third brake light. Turn it clockwise.
5
Push the third brake light back into its mount. Open the rear hatch door. Replace the two Phillips-head screws behind the cover panel. Replace the cover panel by pushing it into place.
Tips & Warnings
Wear gloves while replacing the bulb. Touching the glass with your bare hands will cause it to fail prematurely.

Mercury . Facts on the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

In 1967, GM first produced the Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang. By 1969 this sleek coupe was one of the most popular of the muscle cars, due to its superb handling and sculpted design. The RPO Z28 Camaro Special Performance Package on the 1969 Camaro allowed customers the option to upgrade performance, horsepower, and style. According to the National Auto Dealers Association,, the manufacturer's suggested retail price on a standard Z/28 was $3,184 when it was introduced for the 1969 model year.
Body Features
The Z/28 option has been available on many Camaro production years. There are a few key features that distinguish the 1969 version from other years. A 1969 Camaro sports the same first generation F-body as the 1967 and 1968 Camaro. The body was redesigned in 1970 to the sleeker second generation F-body. In 1969 the Camaro was modified from the previous year to appear longer and lower. It has a distinct midline running delicately down the length of the car. Brake lights were changed from two to three sections.
Z/28 Option
The Z/28 option is identified most easily from other 1969 Camaros by its emblems. A red and chrome Z/28 emblem is mounted off center of the egg-crate grille. A similar emblem can be found just behind the headlines on the front fenders, and one more centered between the two taillights. The Z/28 was available only as a coupe.
Engine and Transmission
The 1969 Z/28 power option included an upgrade to a powerful 302 cubic inch, 5.0 liter V-8 engine, also called a DZ engine. The stock transmission is a 4-speed manual Muncie transmission. The horsepower is conservatively rated at 290 at 5,800 RPM, though some tests have produced up to 400 HP. Torque is 290 ft. lbs. at 4,200 RPM. Engine performance is enhanced by the upgraded cooling system, which includes a heavy-duty radiator and temperature-controlled fan. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds with an estimated maximum speed of 120 mph. The Z/28 runs a quarter mile in 15.12 seconds at 94.8 mph.
Suspension and Handling
The initial design of the Camaro included computer technology to develop the steering and handling. The result is a unibody set on a specialized suspension, all geared toward offering increased handling and a smoother ride. Single leaf rear springs and a tight steering system drove the 15 x 7 inch Rally Wheels on Goodyear wide tread E70-15 tires.
Other specs
Additional specifications of a 1969 Z/28 Camaro include a wheelbase of 108 inches. Size is 186 inches long, 72.5 inches wide, and 51.4 inches high. The weight is 3,525 lbs. The 1969 production totalled 19,014 for the Z/28.

The oil pressure light on your dashboard should go out in 10 or 15 sec onds (or if your car has an oil pressure gauge, the needle should move off of "Low"). Don't rev up your engine during this period. Your oil pres sure is low to zero while the light is on, until your oil filter fills up. leaks. Running the engine circulates oil into the new oil filter, and because filters hold from a half to a full quart of oil, you want to be sure that your filter is full to get an accurate reading on the oil dipstick. !? A 0 Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System 14. Shut off the engine and wait five to ten minutes for the oil to settle into the oil pan. Then remove the oil dipstick, wipe it with a clean, lint-free rag, and shove it back in. Pull it out again and check it. Keep adding oil a little at a time and checking the stick until you reach the "Full" line on the dipstick. (Refer to Figure 3-10 in Chapter 3 to see what an oil dipstick looks like.) 15. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle, drive around the block a couple of times, let the oil settle down again, and recheck the dipstick and the dashboard indicator. Remember, never keep running an engine or drive a vehicle that tells you its oil pressure is low. Because oil not only lubricates but also helps cool the engine, you can ruin your engine if you drive even a short distance with insufficient oil or with a defective oil pump. Use the Maintenance Record at the back of this book to record the vehicle mileage and date of the oil change. On the Specification Record at the back of this book, note the oil filter make and part number and the weight and number of quarts of oil you needed. These records not only keep track of when you need to change the oil again but also help you find the right parts quickly next time. They may even increase the price of your vehicle (if you ever decide to sell it) by giving the buyer confidence that the engine has been looked after. Although this process takes 15 steps to explain, it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to accomplish, once you buy the necessary stuff. When you see how easy changing the oil is, you'll tend to change your oil more frequently, and your car will ride better, last longer, burn less fuel, and cause less air pollution. You'll feel pretty happy with yourself, too!

Mercury . What works together to make a vehicle move?

If you're really feeling good about the oil change and you've got the car jacked up anyway, you may want to consider doing a lube job now. See Chapter 16 for details. Recycle your old oil Never dump oil onto the ground, throw it out with your regular garbage, or flush it down a drain. It's a major toxic pollutant that needs to be treated accordingly. So what do you do with your old oil? Use the funnel to pour it into one or more clean disposable containers with tight-fitting (preferably screw-on) lids — the bottles the new oil came in or old, washed soda bottles work well.

Many auto parts stores and some service stations accept old oil for recycling. If you don't have one close by, look in your phone book for the nearest oil recycling center or toxic waste disposal center. You can also bring the old oil filter along. Be sure not to contaminate the oil by mixing it with another substance or putting it into a dirty container, or recycling centers may not accept it. #ust as the inside of your engine needs lubrication (via oil, as explained in J Chapter 15), other parts of your vehicle need lubrication as well. A lube ^jo b involves applying lubricants (various kinds of grease and oil) to some of the moving parts under your vehicle and to some of the rubber parts to keep them supple. Your transmission fluid, power steering fluid, and brake fluid are lubricants, too. (See the monthly under-the-hood check in Chapter 3 about checking these fluids if you haven't already done so.) The parts of your vehicle that need periodic lubrication can include the steering linkage, transmission shift linkage, clutch linkage, parking brake cables, differential, and driveshaft universal joint fittings. Because some of these are hard to find and hard to reach, most require a special kind of lubricant. Because you can get into trouble if you don't deal with them properly, I suggest that, once or twice a year, you take your vehicle to the dealership or to a good independent repair facility. Have them lubricate everything that needs it — including the distributor, if your vehicle has one. The rest of the time, just lubricate the things that I point out in this chapter, and you'll be way ahead of the game. What do you lubricate when you do a lube job? What tools do you need? And how to you do it? This chapter answers all these questions. !? A ft Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System
